UTTC Comeback Falls Short Against Dakota College at Bottineau
Amaya Ramsey led three Thunderbirds in double figures with 27 points.
The United Tribes women's basketball team couldn't pull off the comeback against Dakota College at Bottineau on Monday evening at the James Henry Gymnasium falling 69-60.
The LadyJacks (14-7) opened the contest building up a 15-point advantage, 43-28, by intermission. The Thunderbirds (6-11) surged back in the third frame outscoring the LadyJacks, 17-11, to pull back within nine, 54-45, following a jumper from Amaya Ramsey.
Dakota College at Bottineau would match the Thunderbirds possession for possession in the fourth frame, 15-15, to take the victory by nine, 69-60.
Ramsey paced the Thunderbirds reaching double figures in scoring with a career-high 27 points on 13-of-24 shooting. Sossity Spotted Wolf also hit double digits in scoring with 12 points and matched a career-best 13 rebounds. Sophomore, Tyleigh Brady, neared a triple-double with 11 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
As a team, the Thunderbirds struggled from deep with only connecting on three triples on 14 attempts. UTTC also shot 41.3 percent (26-63) from the field and 55.6 percent (5-9) from the free throw line.
UTTC travels to Williston State (10-10) on Thursday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
