Thunderbirds Cruise in Season Opener
United Tribes uses balanced scoring attack in win
In their season opener, the United Tribes Technical College Thunderbirds raced out to an early double-digit lead and didn't look back as they beat Turtle Mountain Community College 116-71. The Thunderbirds used some stingy defense and hot shooting to race out to a 61-26 lead at the break. The defense forced TMCC into 26 turnovers and the offense spread the scoring around in the season opening win.
Famous Lefthand paced the balanced scoring attack with 21 points. He also added 5 rebounds and 4 steals. In all seven Thunderbirds reached double figures. Tahj Two Bulls finished with 17 and a game high 6 rebounds. Dakari Middleton had 15 points and fellow starter Sylvester Union chipped in 11. Steven Fisher Jr., Khalil Grant, and Tristin Davis provided a spark off the bench with Fisher adding 12, Grant and Davis each finished with 10.
United Tribes travels to Newtown, ND to compete in the Buster Gillis Mon Dak Conference Tip Off this weekend. They open with defending league champions and conference favorite Dawson Community College Friday at 3:30pm.
