United Tribes Qualifies for Region Tournament With Wins over BSC and DCB

United Tribes Technical College Men's Basketball is heating up at the right time.  On Friday night the Thunderbirds headed across town and cruised to a 98-84 victory over the Mystics of Bismarck State College.  

Tate Bear knocked down 7 threee pointers on his way to a career high 27 points.  He also finished with 10 rebounds.  The balanced Thunderbird attack placed four others in double figures.  After being inserted into the starting lineup Jayce Archambault responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Tyree Whitcomb finished with 18, Luke Wells Jr. 11, and Lane Johnson 10. 

Following an 80-64 defeat at Lake Region State College the Thunderbirds returned home for a contest with the Lumberjacks of Dakota College Bottineau last night.  After a first half that saw both teams struggle to score the teams combined for 133 points in the second half and overtime.  United Tribes went into the lockerroom with a 30-27 lead at the half.  By the end of regualation the score was tied at 80-80.  In the overtime period the Thunderbirds outscored the Jacks 17-13 securing a 97-93 win.  

Tyree Whitcomb had a huge game with 36 points and 6 rebounds.  Tate Bear continued his stellar play chipping in 18 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.  Luke Wells Jr. nearly had a triple double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists.  

United Tribes finishes the regular season with a home game against North Dakota State College of Science on March 25th.  They will then travel to Michigan to participate in the Region XIII tournament April 2-4.
