From the opening tip United Tribes was hitting on all cylinders racing out to 51-18 lead and never looked back against the Dakota College Bottineau Lumberjacks in Monday nights 104-75 Mon Dak Conference win. The Thunderbirds knocked down 12 first half three pointers and 19 for the game as four players reached double figures. Leading the way was Rob McClain Jr. who poured in 27 points and recorded his 1,000th point as a Thunderbird on a driving and 1 to the basket. McClain also led the team in assists with 7 and added 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Montel Carlow added 21 points and 5 assists. Joe Sazue III knocked down six three pointers on his way to 20 points and led the team with 4 steals. Rob Beulieau added 11 points. For the game the Thunderbirds shot 47.5% from the field 50% from the arc, and 81% from the free throw line.
The Thunderbirds travel to Wahpeton, ND on Monday night to take on 4 time defending conference champion North Dakota State College of Science. Tip off is at 7:30.
